HM Resorts is a large employer on Roatan Island. We are very aware of the dire need for financial and infrastructure assistance on the island and we do our best to help those organisations that are working towards the greater good of the Roatan people.

HM Resorts has created its own community program ARTIS to support and provide work for artists and musicians on Roatan Island. We also work alongside several other not-for-profit organisations that are based on Roatan.

ARTIS – Supporting community and culture through art and music

HM Resorts created ARTIS as a community initiative designed to provide opportunities and income to the less fortunate artists on Roatan.

The ARTIS project incorporates art from many disciplines; music, painting, photography, theatre, circus, sculpture, arts and crafts, audiovisual, even educational workshops.

Throughout the year we will hold exhibitions and shows to showcase their work and bring culture and joy to our guests at the same time.

Familias Saludables – HIV/ AIDS prevention

Familas Saludables is a non-profit, non-demoninational organization devoted to fighting the AIDS epidemic on Roatan. They focus particularly on education and preventative measures for mothers to child and breastfeeding transmission of the disease.

HIV/ AIDS are a significant problem in Roatan where lack of education and the high volume of drugs and alcohol (as a direct result of the tourism industry and ex-patriot community in Roatan) abuse on the island is the primary cause. Roatan has the 2nd highest HIV/ AIDS rate per capita in Honduras.

Childrens orphanages – Roatan and La Ceiba

This initiative was initially spearheaded by our former partner Conquest. We give our guests an opportunity to get involved in the Roatan community in a positive way.

HM Resorts collects donations of clothes, food and home and school supplies, from guests, for the orphanages in Roatan and La Ceiba.

If you want to donate new or used clothes, please ensure that they are summer clothes only as the weather here is never cold.

SOL Foundation – Developing nations one child at a time

The SOL Foundation is a Roatan children’s charity focusing on providing an education for every child in developing nations, teaching English to under privileged kids, pioneering scholarship programs and Baseball Little League championships to create unity and teamwork within the Roatan community.
