Roatan community initiatives – Developing nations one child at a time

The SOL Foundation is a Roatan children’s charity focusing on providing an education for every child in developing nations, teaching English to under privileged kids, pioneering scholarship programs and Baseball Little League championships to create unity and teamwork within the Roatan community.

You can get involved by volunteering your time for as little as a day or a week or a month or you can donate some money or sponsor a child.

SOL Foundation community programs

Community centre in Sandy Bay, Roatan where children and young adults are afforded a safe place to become involved in extracurricular and educational activities such as sports, art, reading, music and language programs that would otherwise be unavailable to them on a daily basis.

Roatan Educational Assistance – many children in Roatan do not attend school due to financial costs. In order to attend school families must purchase uniforms, books and other necessary school supplies.

Roatan Health Care – we address the everyday healthcare needs by distributing daily vitamins and providing clean drinking water and healthy snacks which we often buy from local farmers or home cookin’ mothers in the community.

Roatan Sports Program - we have established a Little League baseball program on the island and we currently have the first field dedicated solely to youth sports in use.

Roatan Reading and Language Programs - A bilingual education is essential to the people of Roatan due to the large dependency on tourism – speaking English gives them a better chance at a successful future.
